Most US banks are closed on federal holidays like Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day. Transfers from Exhale initiated on a federal holiday—including My Pay and advances—will be processed on the next business day, and as a result, might arrive later than expected.
The same timing applies to payments you make in Exhale, such as repayment for an advance. When sending or receiving money, it's helpful to be aware of upcoming bank holidays to avoid late deposits or payments.
Banks are closed on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day (January 1)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 15, 2024)
- Presidents Day (February 19, 2024)
- Memorial Day (May 27, 2024)
- Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19)
- Independence Day (July 4)

Can a bank holiday delay my paycheck?
If an upcoming payday takes place on or near a bank holiday, some employers will run payroll earlier than usual to ensure paychecks aren't delayed. If your employer runs payroll early and sends your paycheck to Exhale at least a day before the holiday, you can expect to receive it before the holiday.
However, not every employer runs payroll early ahead of a holiday. Others may run payroll early but miss the daily cutoff to send paychecks to Exhale, resulting in a delay.
If you're not sure when to expect your paycheck, you can always double check with your employer to see a calendar of upcoming scheduled paydays.
What about transfers initiated the day before a holiday?
Most transfers from Exhale take 1-2 business days to arrive in your bank account. If you requested money from Exhale the day before a federal holiday, your transfer may not arrive until after the holiday.
How can I make sure I get my transfer from Exhale on time?
If you anticipate needing My Pay, a withdrawal from your saved funds, or advance around a federal holiday, try to request your funds a couple days before the holiday, if you can. Since banks are also closed on weekends, you may want to request funds earlier in the week to ensure you're not waiting extra days for your deposit.
Additionally, to remind yourself of upcoming bank holidays, you can mark them on your calendar or set up notifications on a calendar app.
